VIDEO: Ciscomani Honors Veterans & Servicemembers, Highlights Veteran-Focused Accomplishments
TUCSON, AZ – Ahead of the Veterans Day holiday, U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, is highlighting the veteran-focused bills and other efforts he has spearheaded over the last 11 months in Congress.
“Our veterans embody the very best of America, willing to sacrifice life and limb so that we can enjoy the freedoms and values we cherish,” said Ciscomani. “With over 70,000 veterans calling our district home, I have a solemn duty to fight for those who served, and it is not a responsibility I take lightly. While we will never be able to repay our veterans and their families for all they have sacrificed, I’m proud of the work my team has done – and will continue to do – to provide for our veterans.”

In his first year in Congress, Ciscomani has introduced five bipartisan, veteran-focused bills:
- H.R. 1378, the Veterans’ Appeals Backlog Improvement Act, which focuses on reducing wait times for veterans seeking disability claims.
- H.R. 1378 passed the House on September 20, 2023, as a piece of the Veterans Benefits Improvement Act (H.R. 1530).
- H.R. 1669, the VET-TEC Authorization Act of 2023, which extends a popular program within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that covers costs for veterans seeking job training in high-tech industries.
- This bill passed the House on May 24, 2023.
- H.R. 5470, the Veteran Medical Exams for Distant Areas (VET MEDS) Act, which extends a provision allowing VA-certified providers to conduct disability exams across state lines.
- This provision was signed into law as a part of a larger Senate package on October 6, 2023.
- H.R. 5702, the Expanding Access for Online Veteran Students Act, which increases housing stipends for student veterans attending classes online.
- H.R. 5938, the Veteran Exam Expansion Act, which expands the pool of providers eligible to cross state lines when conducting disability exams for veterans.
In the last year alone, he has also returned $315,000 – and counting – to veterans through the federal casework process. Additionally, in August, Ciscomani launched his Veterans Advisory Council.
