Two Ciscomani Bills Pass the House Natural Resources Committee
‘A thoughtful, balanced approach to responsible resource management and conservation’
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Juan Ciscomani welcomes the committee passage of two of his bills, which support the resource management and conservation efforts of southeastern Arizona. The Critical Mineral Consistency Act of 2025 (H.R. 755) will increase the efficiency of resource development by streamlining the recognition of critical minerals. The Chiricahua National Park Act (H.R. 6380) will designate Chiricahua National Monument as a National Park to further preserve this unique area of public land while also bolstering tourism.
Now that these two pieces of legislation have passed the House Natural Resources Committee, the next step is for them to be scheduled for debate on the House floor. Congressman Ciscomani urges his colleagues in the House to vote YES on these bills once they go to the floor for passage.
“Today’s committee passage of these two bills reflects a thoughtful, balanced approach to responsible resource management and conservation,” said Rep. Juan Ciscomani. “The Critical Mineral Consistency Act brings clarity and certainty to federal policy so we can responsibly develop the critical minerals our economy and national security depend on. At the same time, the Chiricahua National Park Act honors, protects, and promotes one of Southern Arizona’s most extraordinary natural treasures as a national park for future generations. I’m proud to support legislation that strengthens our supply chains, protects our public lands, and reflects the unique needs and values of Arizona.”
Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman, commented:
“I thank Rep. Ciscomani for his leadership on the Critical Mineral Consistency Act of 2025. By merging the Department of Energy’s critical materials list and the U.S. Geological Survey’s critical minerals list into the Critical Minerals and Materials List, his bill reduces confusion and strengthens America’s supply chain for essential resources. This commonsense reform will help our energy, manufacturing and defense sectors access the minerals they need to compete and innovate here at home.”
“The Chiricahua National Monument features ancient rock formations and offers outdoor enthusiasts a unique place to hike and camp. Redesignating this National Monument into a National Park will boost local economies and ensure this hidden gem gets the recognition it deserves. I commend Rep. Ciscomani for his leadership to designate Arizona’s 4th national park in honor of our country’s 250th anniversary.”
