ICYMI: Stakeholders Praise Ciscomani’s Work to Secure $5.6 Million for Pinal County
PINAL COUNTY, AZ – Stakeholders are praising U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, following his recent inclusion of $5.6 million for Pinal County in the FY24 appropriation packages.
“As your representative, it is my duty to return as many of your tax dollars back to you and your community as possible,” said Ciscomani. “From irrigation to infrastructure, the funding awarded will be crucial to facilitating growth and improving quality of life in Pinal County.”
The Central Arizona Irrigation and Drainage District’s (CAIDD) Drought Resiliency Water Augmentation Program will receive $1.8 million, benefitting communities in Eloy and Arizona City. The funding allows for the construction of 3 new wells and 1.25 miles of new 12-inch well pipelines. The additional water infrastructure will help replace lost surface water, which has been eliminated due to the unprecedented drought in the Colorado River Basin.

The City of Casa Grande will receive $3.79 million for the Thorton Road Widening Project. This roadway is traveled daily by thousands of workers and services major companies like Lucid Motors and the Walmart Distribution Center. The funding will allow for the city to widen Thorton Road, a minor arterial, to two lanes in the southbound direction and one lane in the northbound direction. This project will alleviate the increased traffic due to new manufacturing jobs in the area.
Local officials and stakeholders are praising Ciscomani’s work in securing these funds.
"The City of Casa Grande is taking proactive steps to enhance safety, mobility, reliability, and multi-modal traffic flow along a critical stretch of Thornton Road, north of the Gila Bend Highway,” said Casa Grande Mayor Craig McFarland. “This transformative initiative not only signifies a commitment to the well-being of our community but also supports and amplifies the operations of key businesses in the vicinity, including Lucid Motors, Walmart Distribution Center, and Tractor Supply. By investing in improvements to this essential north-south roadway, we not only support existing businesses but also create an attractive environment for new enterprises. Congressman Ciscomani’s backing in this project is a testament to his dedication to fostering economic growth, bolstering local industries, and ensuring the sustained prosperity of our community."
“The new water supply that this project will deliver is critical as we mitigate impacts from the loss of Colorado River water and move away from using the Santa Rosa Canal to convey groundwater,” said Ron McEachern, General Manager of CAIDD in Eloy. “I appreciate Senators Kelly and Sinema, along with Congressman Ciscomani, for supporting this important project and for their continued leadership to improve water security for Arizona.”
In total, Ciscomani secured $26 million for 13 projects in every county of Arizona’s 6th Congressional District. He is the only member of the Arizona delegation to sit on the House Appropriations Committee.
