As House Passes Critical Foreign Aid, Ciscomani Pushes Effort to Secure Border

April 20, 2024

WASHINGTON – As the House passed critical foreign aid, Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) pushed his own effort to secure the southern border.

“President Biden’s weakness has emboldened our enemies and made the world less safe, and our friends need our support,” said Ciscomani. “I supported this weekend’s legislation as it is crucial to provide resources to our friends in Israel, increase oversight into aid to Ukraine, and bolster military operations in the Indo-Pacific.

“In the same breath, growing threats have made the need to secure our border even more urgent,” continued the Congressman. “While I was disappointed that my effort to increase resources at our southern border was blocked, I will continue to prioritize this type of legislation as long as I am in Congress.”

On Saturday, the House considered four bills regarding assistance to U.S. allies as well as Ciscomani’s bill to increase border security, H.R. 3602, the End the Border Catastrophe Act. The Congressman’s effort was ultimately blocked by a majority of House Democrats.
