Congressman Juan Ciscomani Makes History As Southeastern Arizona’s Newest Congressman

Congressman Juan Ciscomani becomes the first naturalized American from Mexico to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives from Arizona.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Juan Ciscomani today took the oath of office as the next member of the House of Representatives from Arizona’s 6th Congressional District.

With his swearing in, Congressman Ciscomani becomes the first naturalized American from Mexico to Represent Arizona in Congress.

“I am humbled and proud to be able to represent my community in the United States House of Representatives,” said Congressman Ciscomani. “I grew up in this district, it’s where Laura and I are raising our 6 kids, and where we are living our American Dream. I’m excited for this opportunity and look forward to hitting the ground running to get results for the people of our district.”

Looking on as Congressman Ciscomani swore to protect and defend the constitution were his wife, Laura, and their six children: Zoe, Juan David, Kenny, Lily, Lucas, and Gloria.

Congressman Ciscomani is one of two new, incoming lawmakers who nominated Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House.

“The American Dream is alive. I believe it,” said Congressman Ciscomani on Thursday in his speech nominating Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 118th Congress.

Since arriving in Washington, Congressman Ciscomani has participated in numerous interviews, in Spanish and English, with both local and national outlets including: Mike BroomheadChris DeSimoneKVOAKGUNHugh Hewitt, and Telemundo.

Congressman Ciscomani was elected to Congress in 2022, serving Arizona’s 6th Congressional District. The district covers parts of Pima, Pinal, Cochise, and Graham counties, and all of Greenlee county. It includes the cities of Tucson, Casa Grande, Sierra Vista, Safford, and Green Valley. The district is also home to two military installations, Fort Huachuca and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

Prior to being elected, Congressman Ciscomani served as Vice Chair of the Arizona-Mexico Commission and was a Senior Advisor in Arizona Governor Doug Ducey’s administration. He has also served as Vice President of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. 

Congressman Ciscomani was born in Mexico and moved to Tucson with his family. He attended Utterback Middle School and Rincon High School before graduating from Pima Community College and the University of Arizona — becoming the first in his family to graduate from college.
