Congressman Ciscomani Celebrates Read Across America Day at Local Tucson School

Congressman Ciscomani recognizes the importance of childhood literacy and the value of reading
Congressman Juan Ciscomani today celebrated Read Across America Day at Legacy Traditional School in Northwest Tucson.
“Developing a love of reading from an early age is incredibly important for our children,” said Congressman Ciscomani. “Great books promote curiosity and learning, teach us important lessons, and inspire us to dream big. I’m grateful for the opportunity to join educators, parents, and students on this day to celebrate the fun of reading.”
Congressman Ciscomani read to students from second and fourth grade classes. Following the reading, Congressman Ciscomani discussed the importance of reading with the students.

Congressman Ciscomani read “Courage” by Bernard Waber and “I Pledge Allegiance” by Pat Mora and Libby Martinez to the students. The book “I Pledge Allegiance” by Pat Mora and Libby Martinez describes a young girl and her great aunt who learn the Pledge of Allegiance to recite at her great aunt's U.S. citizenship ceremony.
Read Across America Day was established in 1998 to get students excited about reading. The event happens each year on the birthday of famous childrens’ book author, Dr. Seuss.
