Congressman Ciscomani Announces 2023 Congressional Art Competition

High school students in Arizona’s Sixth District are encouraged to participate
TUCSON — Congressman Juan Ciscomani is inviting high school students from Southeastern Arizona to submit artwork for the 2023 Congressional Art Competition.
Every Spring, the U.S. House of Representatives sponsors the Congressional Art Competition to showcase the artistic talents of high school students across the country.
“The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize the many talented, young artists in our district,” said Congressman Ciscomani. “I look forward to seeing the immense creativity of our students and am excited to have the work of one of our local artists featured in the Capitol Building.”
The competition is open to all high school students in Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District. The winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, alongside winning entries from all participating districts around the country. The winner will also receive two round-trip tickets to Washington, D.C. to attend a congressional reception celebrating our nation’s artists.
All artwork submissions are due at the Tucson District Office by Friday, April 7th at 5pm.
Artwork may not exceed, when framed, 26 inches by 26 inches and 4 inches in depth and may not weigh more than 15 pounds.
Accepted mediums for two-dimensional artwork:
- Paintings - oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
- Drawings - colored pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal
- Collages - must be two dimensional
- Prints - lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
- Mixed Media - use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
- Computer-generated art
- Photography
