Ciscomani Secures Provision to Expedite New Tower for Pinal Airpark in Bipartisan Aviation Package
WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) secured a provision in Congress’ aviation package to provide Pinal Airpark with an air traffic control tower. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization package, which is considered every five years, passed the House on Thursday. In the bill, Ciscomani successfully included an amendment to expedite the development of a tower at the airpark.
“I am thrilled to see the Pinal Airpark prioritized in this year’s bipartisan FAA reauthorization package,” said Ciscomani. “This is a step in the right direction to encourage growth in the county and region, while making our skies safer.”
“Providing Pinal Airpark with an air traffic control tower not only improves safety in the area but will create jobs, spur economic development, and enhance critical military readiness and training,” said Jeffrey McClure, Vice Chair of the Pinal County Board of Supervisors. “We thank Congressman Ciscomani for his effective leadership and work to include this effort in the FAA reauthorization package.”
Currently, there is no tower at Pinal Airpark, which raises safety and operational challenges for the airpark and stifles economic growth. More than 100,000 commercial and military flight operations are conducted at the airpark each year.
