Ciscomani Secures Over $22 Million for AZ-06 Community Projects with House Final Appropriations Package
‘Delivers real results for our district’
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Juan Ciscomani is welcoming the passage of legislation that includes more than $22 million for eight community projects throughout southeastern Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District.
The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 – the last in a series of critical federal funding bills – was passed by the House Thursday in a 341-88 vote.
“I’m very proud of this funding package because it does two critical things: cuts wasteful spending and directs taxpayer dollars where they matter most — back to Arizona and our district,” said Ciscomani. “This legislation delivers real results, with funding that means safer communities, stronger infrastructure, and improvements people will see and feel. By working closely with local leaders across Arizona’s Sixth District, I am proud to have advocated for and now secured practical investments, not Washington talking points, that address real needs. From road and bridge improvements to affordable housing, these federal dollars will make a meaningful difference in communities across our district like Sierra Vista, Oro Valley, Casa Grande, Eloy, Duncan, and the Town of Pima.”
The eight projects are:
- $7,000,000 for the City of Sierra Vista’s Buffalo Soldier Trail Reconstruction;
- $7,000,000 for the Town of Oro Valley’s Bridge Replacement;
- $2,000,000 for Cochise County’s Bisbee-Douglas Airport Runway Revitalization;
- $1,900,000 for the Town of Duncan’s Main and High Street Improvements;
- $1,800,000 for Casa Grande Union High School District’s Affordable Workforce Housing Construction;
- $1,000,000 for the Town of Pima’s High School Road Construction Project;
- $1,000,000 for the City of Eloy’s Frontier Street Mill and Overlay Project;
- And, $1,000,000 for Casa Grande Elementary School District #4’s Community Center Revitalization Project.
Today’s House vote now means the legislation now goes to the Senate for consideration.
Earlier this month, the House passed another funding package that included $11 million in funding for six community projects in Tucson, Sahuarita, Marana, Tombstone and Graham County. This legislation also is awaiting Senate action.
Recipients of the funding welcomed today’s vote.
Andy Sutton, Mayor, City of Eloy:
“On behalf of the City of Eloy, I want to sincerely thank Congressman Ciscomani for his continued support and for helping secure critical funding to repair and improve our roadway infrastructure. His commitment to our community—and his willingness to be available whenever we reach out—means a great deal to me and to the residents we serve. We know this funding did not happen by accident. It took steady effort, strong leadership, and a real commitment to advocating for communities like ours. The congressman has been a true partner to the City of Eloy, and we are grateful for his work and continued support.”
Terry Hinton, Town Manager/Clerk, Town of Duncan:
“We’re extremely grateful to Congressman Ciscomani for all the hard work he’s done to get us these funds. He’s been a real help for us and rural Arizona. The last paving project we had in the Town of Duncan was 1978. When you’re patching streets with dirt, funding like this will be very helpful.”
Brian Paull, Mayor, Town of Pima:
“While the new Pima High School is a wonderful addition to our community, the current access to it is not ideal. A new stoplight and direct access off the highway will be much more safe for those traveling to and from the school and for highway traffic through town. Thank you, Congressman Ciscomani for your dedicated efforts to fund this project.”
Dr. Adam Leckie, Superintendent, Casa Grande Elementary School District:
“We are incredibly thankful for the support of Congressman Ciscomani in advocating for this very important project. The community center will help provide critical support and services to our students and their families. We look forward to bettering our community with this funding, and are grateful for Congressman Ciscomani’s vision and commitment to bettering Casa Grande. These funds are going to make a difference in the lives of many kids.”
Jeff Lavender, Superintendent, Casa Grande Union High School District:
“We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Congressman Juan Ciscomani for his unwavering dedication and relentless advocacy on behalf of our district, particularly in securing an impressive $1.7 million grant for teacher housing pending Senate and Presidential approval. Congressman Ciscomani stands as a staunch ally of educators, and his commitment to acquiring vital funding for new teacher housing will be instrumental in attracting exceptional educators to our community. For the past two years, Congress has struggled to advance this proposal; the fact that a vote is finally taking place now highlights the Congressman’s remarkable tenacity and influential presence within the United States House of Representatives. His efforts not only support our educators but also signal a brighter future for our schools.”
Kathleen Gomez, District 2 Supervisor, Cochise County:
"With the state-of-the-art Douglas port of entry coming online in the next several years, the possibility of offering commercial freight service at the Bisbee-Douglas Airport opens up a wealth of potential economic opportunity for Cochise County. This appropriation enables us to begin this important project in earnest. We are incredibly grateful to Congressman Juan Ciscomani and his staff for their leadership and support on this important issue."
Joe Winfield, Mayor, Town of Oro Valley:
“This $7 million in federal funding will be instrumental in ensuring our bridges remain safe and efficient for many years to come. And it comes at a critical time, as we work to maintain key infrastructure in the face of rising costs and reduced revenues. While Senate approval is still needed, we are grateful for the tenacity of Rep. Ciscomani and his staff in securing these funds.”
This legislation passed today provides a total of $839.2 billion in discretionary funding to the Department of Defense, $64.4 billion in discretionary funding to the Department of Homeland Security, $221 billion to the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and finally $102.883 billion to the Departments of Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, of which $388 million is allocated for defense spending.
The funding for the Department of Homeland Security includes $32 billion for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), of which $26.4 billion is for the Disaster Relief Fund. This funding supports response and recovery efforts following major emergencies and disasters, including wildfires and flooding, both of which are prevalent issues for communities within Southeastern Arizona.
Included in this appropriations package is my bill, H.R. 1598, the Ensuring Access to Medicaid Buy In Programs Act, under which working adults with disabilities over the age of 65 can continue to work, if they choose, while receiving Medicaid coverage and benefits so they are no longer forced to make a decision between their career and their benefits.
The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 not only funds crucial areas of the government, but also prioritizes vital community projects throughout AZ-06. This package now moves to the U.S. Senate for passage, to keep our government funded and to aid the development and health of communities in our district.
