Ciscomani Champions $1.6 Million Investment to Advance Air Traffic Control Tower at Pinal Airpark
'Since 2023, I have worked in Congress to deliver an air traffic control tower to Pinal Airpark.'
Marana, AZ - Representative Juan Ciscomani visited Pinal Airpark today to highlight $1.6 million in preliminary federal funding to advance the development of a new air traffic control tower at the transportation hub. This funding will support site selection, environmental review, design, and the initial phases of construction, making a new air traffic control tower at Pinal Airpark a reality. These efforts will address the airpark’s critical safety and operational needs.
Throughout his time in office, Rep. Ciscomani has prioritized the airpark's need for a new air traffic control tower. In 2023, the congressman secured a provision in the federal aviation reauthorization package to expedite the development of an air traffic control tower at Pinal Airpark. His amendment was included in the House-passed FAA reauthorization legislation, advancing efforts to address the airpark’s longstanding need for dedicated air traffic control infrastructure.
"Since 2023, I have worked in Congress to deliver an air traffic control tower to Pinal Airpark," said Rep. Ciscomani. "As Arizona’s only appropriator in the House or Senate, I have a unique responsibility to bring meaningful federal investments back home. This $1.6 million represents a major step toward building a tower that will enhance safety, support continued growth, and unlock new economic opportunities for Pinal County."
A local stakeholder applauded Rep. Ciscomani’s efforts, emphasizing the investment's importance to Pinal Airpark and the broader economic impact on Arizona’s Sixth District.
"Representative Ciscomani has led successful efforts in Congress to advance approval, design and construction of an air traffic control tower at Pinal Airpark to enhance aviation safety, strengthen military readiness, and drive job creation and economic growth throughout the region," said Pinal County Supervisor Stephen Miller. "We are deeply grateful for Representative Ciscomani’s leadership and support in moving this critical project forward."
Currently, Pinal Airpark operates without an air traffic control tower, creating safety and operational challenges and limiting opportunities for future growth. The airpark supports more than 100,000 commercial and military flight operations each year, making a new tower a major investment in the region’s aviation infrastructure.
Through this year’s funding bills, Congressman Ciscomani is working to secure $42.7 million for 20 local projects in Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District, placing him among the top members of Congress delivering federal resources directly to their communities.
